The other day I was thinking about when I was kid and the shows that I used to watch – original star trek – battlestar galactica – martian chronicles – lost in space – twilight zone, etc, etc.

T.V. is just getting tired these days, and for the last couple of years Sci Fi has just sucked. That seems to have ended though. Especially on Fridays. What a line-up…

Stargate – SG1 | Stargate – Atlantis | New Battlestar Galactica | Star Trek Enterprise.

The stargate series has been on for 8 years now and it keeps getting better and better. I love the direction that Atlantis is taking too.

The new Battlestar Galactica — WOW! I can not believe how good this show is. Richard Hatch – we all thank you very much for bringing it back to us.

Sci Fi took a nose dive, when the writers were replaced with technology. They were able to get more advanced looking and figured the imagination just wasn’t as important. As a result the stories suffered. Don’t get me wrong – I loved the Star Trek spin offs. Even Enterprise, with it’s complete lack of concern for the star trek universe cannon. Even those though, the stories were recycled over and over again.

Think back to the original Twilight Zones — the black and white ones. These guys in the early 60’s had nothing to work with. TV had barely even taken shape. The stories they came up with were amazing. These writers were talented. VERY talented.

I have to give a nod to the SciFi channel. WOW. These new shows are great. The 4400 — excellent story so far. Taken was beyond belief.

So, I know what you are thinking – what a loser! It is Friday night and your sitting at home watching SciFi all night??

Well, remember I am a geek. I refer to myself as “The Lone Coder”, which is I will admit is a bit cheesy. However, I do have a life. I am not always at home on Friday nights. That my good friend is what Tivo and Saturday afternoon’s are for.

Minus the Tivo — that is what my Saturday’s were all about growing up. Frozen Microwave burritos, Dr. Pepper, and hours upon hours of Science Fiction.

Now if I could just track down those burritos again…
