TV has destroyed my brain….
Ok - confession time. I am a Television addict. Now I realize that this about as shocking as when you found out that George Michael is gay, but it seems that most people have a hard time admitting this.
I have friends that do not watch TV. They don’t even own one. Whatever. I have three. Three TV’s in a 2 bedroom house that is less then 900 square feet in size.
So anyway - I have a class that I am going to be attending in Chicago for a week. Advanced Hacking and Network Penetration. It will be fun, and I am sure that I will learn a lot. However, I am trying to get prepared for it, reading up on TCP/IP protocols, hacking tools, social engineering concepts, network infrastructures. The problem is that my brain is not working with me here. I mean, really, we have a common goal, most of the time. Lately, though when I shut everything off, TV - computer - iPod - all of it, silence. I turn the light on and make a relaxing atmosphere to get a little reading done, instead my brain focus’ on the fact that there is a rerun of the Simpsons on and I am missing it. (Even though I have already seen it dozens of times).
My brain can no longer focus on anything that does not change every 30 seconds! So - what now.
More reading, more TIVO, less re-runs and more time spent on the more important things. Reading, studying, cleaning, working, service, etc.
Now, don’t get me wrong, and TV, if your reading this, don’t feel bad. I am not going to neglect you. I will not wean myself from your tender and giving teet. I am now and will always be a proud and addicted television viewer.
I just need to add more exercise for the gray matter too.
